Ashley Spann, MD, MSACI, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition, with a secondary appointment in Biomedical Informatics. A transplant clinician and informatics expert, she leads initiatives that harness data-driven innovations to advance transplant research and improve patient outcomes. Her work includes developing predictive models, leveraging artificial intelligence and informatics tools, and optimizing clinical decision support systems to influence care for patients with liver disease. 

As Associate Director of Transplant Research Informatics at VCTS, Dr. Spann oversees informatics initiatives for solid organ transplantation, focusing on enhancing data resources, building multi-institutional transplant data consortia, and fostering collaborative research. Her contributions aim to drive impactful discoveries and promote inclusivity in transplantation research.
